Coffey won the right to start despite the fact that Dave Bush, pitching today because his next scheduled start falls on Monday’s day off for both the Major- and Minor League clubs, is also scheduled to work an inning. Maybe manager Ken Macha wants Bush to get used to appearing in relief in case he’s used on Opening Day against the Giants.
