Hobbled Hart makes Wish a reality

Brewers right fielder Corey Hart was back in the lineup on Sunday after missing three starts with a bruised left foot, but only after he made a young fan’s wish come true.

Six-year-old Sam from Saukville, Wis. was on hand with dad Aaron as part of the 25th anniversary of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin, which grants the wishes of youngsters with life-threatening medical conditions. Hart and Brewers Charities donated $10,000 to the organization before the game.

Sam’s wish was to sing the National Anthem, and he did so after getting a tour of the Brewers’ clubhouse from Hart. Brewers team photographer Scott Paulus sent along a few shots:

I want to know… who was more excited, my son Aaron or grandson Sam? I know they were both thrilled to be a part of the Brewer team on Sunday. The Make a Wish Foundation did a superb job. We all had a great time. Thanks for the post.

I want all to know I was very excited to follow Sam and Cory around. I thank all the guys that came up to Sam and gave him a moment of their time. Cory took Sam to see all his friends. Mike Cameron made Sam laugh. Jason Kendall gave Sam a bat. I am pretty sure Sam and myself are in a select crowd of getting a Ryan Brawn autograph while he is in a hot tub. Mat Gamel came and sat down next to Sam while in the tunnel and Sam was telling him how his hands where sticking to the bat. Mat said wait right here and came back with his well used batting gloves . Mitch Stetter and Mark DiFelice came and said hi to Sam. The Ryan Brawn all star jersey I was wearing ,the gloves from Mat along with the bat from Jason, the four signed balls From Mr Baseball will be enshrined in Sam’s Room Forever. I just cant explain how the little things all the crew did will last in our memories forever. Thanks Sam”s Dad

Well….mom’s question was answered! I know Aaron and Sam followed the Brewers long before the Make a Wish foundation made Sam’s Wish come true. Sam sings “Take me out to the Ballgame” under water! And Ryan Braun’s signature in the hot tub? Yes, I’d say you have an exclusive there. Great day… great memories!
