Waukesha school wins 'pep rally' contest

The Brewers announced that Mt. Calvary Lutheran School in Waukesha was the winner of The Brewers Pep Rally Contest, a first-year event that gave area school children the opportunity to win a school visit from a Brewers player by submitting a one-page essay about what their school is doing to make the community a better place.
The Christian-based K-8 school has 150 students and has been doing several things to make their community a better place locally and globally.  Globally, they raised money for Haiti and Chile after devastating earthquakes struck both nations.  They also sent toothbrushes to children in Antigua and created bookmarks to send to children in China.
Locally, the school hosts several food drives each month for local food pantries and collects baby items for shelters in Waukesha County.
Marisah Hilger, 13, a seventh grade student at Mt. Calvary, submitted the essay that entered the school in the contest.
On Wednesday, May 12, Mt. Calvary will be awarded a visit from a Brewers player, the World Famous Klement’s Racing Sausages and other team personnel.  Students will also receive a customized Brewers t-shirt, tickets to that afternoon’s game vs. Atlanta, a food voucher for the game and transportation to and from Miller Park.  Hilger will throw out the first pitch for that game and will be accompanied by principal Timothy Kassulke.
All public and private school elementary or middle school students in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Washington and Waukesha counties were eligible to participate in the contest.  FOX Sports Wisconsin is serving as a media partner in supporting the initiative.  For more information, please visit brewers.com/community
