Former aptly-named Brewers Draft pick Brent Brewer walked away from baseball to play football, after all.
Brewer, Milwaukee’s second-round pick in 2006 who signed for $600,000, told the website InsideTennessee.com that he will be on a football scholarship to the University of Tennessee beginning this fall. He turned down a scholarship at Florida State when he originally signed to play baseball.
He informed Brewers officials last month that he was quitting baseball and was placed on Double-A Huntsville’s restricted list. He was a .240 hitter in 420 professional games.
