Brewers want fans to ‘Go Gold’
The Brewers have been winning on the field and at the box office, and now they’ve got an idea to boost sales at the team store. In a take-off of the San Francisco Giants’ popular “Orange Fridays,” the Brewers want fans to “Go Gold” on Sept. 10 for a game against the Phillies at Miller Park.
The Brewers will wear special gold jerseys for the game, presumably similar to the ones they sported for Cerveceros Day back in June, and fans are encouraged to wear their own gold gear. Don’t have any? Well, wouldn’t you know it — the Brewers will release a new line of Brewers gold gear during a “special shopping opportunity” on Sept 6.
As always, you can buy team gear online at Brewers.com, and the Brewers Team Store by Majestic will open at Miller Park beginning at 6 a.m. CT on Sept. 6. The new line features a wide array of apparel, including name and number t-shirts and a special Nyjer Morgan shirt featuring his popular signoff: “Ahhhh…..Gotta Go!”
Brewers employees will be roaming the Miller Park concourses on Sept. 10 to reward random fans for wearing gold with prizes, including ticket vouchers to a 2012 game and autographed baseballs.
“The fans’ support has been a huge boost in building the best home record in baseball, and we’re looking to ramp it up even more for the September 10 game as we all ‘Go Gold,’” Brewers COO Rick Schlesinger said in the club’s announcement. “We’re hoping everyone will join us as we create a sea of gold both on and off the field that day.”
