Gerut gets a shot against Pelfrey, Mets
Mike Cameron is getting what I presume is just a day off today, so Jody Gerut will get another chance to get his feet under him as the Brewers aim for a sweep of the Mets. Gerut is 3-for-29 (.103) with one RBI since joining the Brewers.
The New Yorkers should be playing with an extra focus after a closed-door meeting last night in which manager Jerry Manuel demanded that everyone take the team bus from the Pfister Hotel to the ballpark. That's bad news for Milwaukee's taxi drivers.Typically, players, particularly the starting position players, arrive much earlier via cab.
Manuel said yetserday that he planned to rest David Wright and Gary Sheffield in the series finale, but he apparently changed his mind about Wright. Here are the lineups:
METS
Alex Cora SS
Luis Castillo 2B
David Wright 3B
Ryan Church RF
Nick Evans LF
Daniel Murphy 1B
Fernando Martinez CF
Brian Schneider C
Mike Pelfrey RHP
BREWERS
Craig Counsell 2B
J.J. Hardy SS
Ryan Braun LF
Prince Fielder 1B
Corey Hart RF
Mat Gamel 3B
Jason Kendall C
Jody Gerut CF
Yovani Gallardo RHP
