Only a minor lineup tweak for Brewers manager Ken Macha, who bumped-up rookie shortstop Alcides Escobar to the seven-hole, ahead of catcher Jonathan Lucroy. The Brewers are 6-2 over their last eight games and will try to stay rolling against the Pirates tonight.

Braun out of lineup for series finale

After toying with the idea for a couple weeks, manager Ken Macha finally gave left fielder Ryan Braun the day off on Thursday. In his place, he started Joe Inglett, who was in the starting lineup for the first time since the Brewers road series in Minnesota in late May.

Here’s the rest of the lineup:

Business as usual in series opener vs. Giants

Nothing too surprising in the Brewers’ lineup for today’s afternoon contest with the San Francisco Giants.

Carlos Gomez is in center field with a lefty on the mound in Jonathan Sanchez for the Giants, rookie catcher Jonathan Lucroy is behind the plate, and Casey McGehee is back at third base after taking a much-deserved day off on Sunday in St. Louis.
Here’s the rest of the lineup:
Weeks  2B
Hart  RF
Fielder  1B
Braun  LF
McGehee  3B
Lucroy  C
Gomez  CF
Escobar  SS

No McGehee, Edmonds in finale

Third baseman Casey McGehee is getting a day off Sunday and center fielder Jim Edmonds is apparently unable to play, so veteran infielder Craig Counsell is making his first career start in the five-hole. Manager Ken Macha said last night he was hoping to start Edmonds this afternoon. I’ll update Edmonds physical status after speaking to Macha this morning.

In the meantime, here is the lineup:
Rickie Weeks  2B
Corey Hart  RF
Prince Fielder  1B
Ryan Braun  LF
Craig Counsell  3B
Carlos Gomez  CF
George Kottaras  C
Alcides Escobar  SS

Braun, Fielder flipped

The Brewers made a late change to their starting lineup on Saturday, flipping Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder from the order originally posted early in the afternoon. No real surprise there, because the Brewers have used this new alignment recently when the team faces a left-handed starter. Tonight, that starter is Colorado’s Jeff Francis.

Here is the amended lineup:
Rickie Weeks  2B
Corey Hart  RF
Prince Fielder  1B
Ryan Braun  LF
Casey McGehee  3B
Jonathan Lucroy  C
Carlos Gomez  CF
Alcides Escobar  SS
Yovani Gallardo  RHP

Riske returns, Hawkins way behind

The Brewers announced in their media notes today that reliever David Riske had been reinstated from the 60-day disabled list and would be in uniform tonight for the series opener at Miller Park against the Cubs. Riske takes the 25-man roster spot vacated over the weekend by Todd Coffey, who was placed on the 15-day DL with a thumb injury, and takes a 40-man roster spot from LaTroy Hawkins, who was shifted to the 60-day DL. The only diagnosis the Brewers have offered for Hawkins is “right shoulder fatigue.”

More on those moves to come. Here’s the lineup:
Rickie Weeks  2B
Carlos Gomez  CF
Prince Fielder  1B
Ryan Braun  LF
Casey McGehee  3B
Corey Hart  RF
Alcides Escobar  SS
George Kottaras  C
Yovani Gallardo  RHP
